4 Things You Should Do While In Kenya

Kenya is known the world over for its excellent athletes and tourism. Tourism is the second largest source of foreign exchange in the country after agriculture. When you are visiting Kenya as a tourist, there are things that you never fail to do. Here are 4 things that should never leave Kenya without doing:
Eat Ugali
Ugali is a stable food in Kenya made from maize flour (cornmeal) and water. Enter any hotel and ask for ugali and you will be served with a delicacy that you can't keep your hands off. You can eat ugali with chicken, beef or goat meat. If you are vegetarian, you can use sukuma wiki, spinach, or any other vegetable.
Visit the coffee plantations
Coffee is the largest Kenyan export. If you are a coffee enthusiast you probably know that Kenyan coffee is one of the best in the world. When you visit the country you should never leave without visiting the coffee plantations that are majorly found in Kiambu County.
To visit the plantations all you need to do is contact the farm managers and they will give you an appointment. When you visit the plantations you will have an opportunity of seeing the coffee berries from the farms. You will also see how the berries are picked and prepared to be moved to the factory.
If you have time, I recommend that you visit the factories and see how the berries are sorted out, dried and processed. Kenyans are hospitable and most companies will allow you to process your coffee and take it with you.
Witness the wildebeest migration
Recognized as one of the seventh wonders of the world, wildebeest migration is said to be the world cup of wildlife. There is nowhere in the world you will experience over 2 million animals crossing from one place to the other. From July through to October, wildebeests migrate from Serengeti National Park in Tanzania to the Maasai Mara National Reserve in Kenya in search of greener pasture.
When you visit the country you will not be able to see many animals, you will also get to see the animals fighting for their lives when crossing the crocodile infested Mara River.
Climb Mount Kenya
It's an ancient volcano mountain estimated to be over 17,000 feet tall. In addition to being close to the equator, the mountain has complex ridges, peaks and cliffs that make mountain climbing fun. The mountain also has great places where you can go camping. Two of the popular places are; Batian and Nelion.
Conclusion
These are four of the things that you should never fail to do while in Kenya. In addition to doing these things, there are millions of other things to do and thousands of scenic places to visit in this warm, beautiful country. Meet you there!
